Confessions of an Angry girl by Louise Rozett

Confessions of an Angry girl - So what if she has anger issues? You would, too.

Louise Rozett - Simon & Schuster

272 pages

ROSE ZARELLI, self-proclaimed word geek and angry girl, has some confessions to make...

1. I’m livid all the time. Why? My dad died. My mom barely talks. My brother abandoned us. I think I’m allowed to be irate, don’t you?

2. I make people furious regularly. Want an example? I kissed Jamie Forta, a badass guy who might be dating a cheerleader. She is now enraged and out for blood. Mine.

3. High school might as well be Mars. My best friend has been replaced by an alien, and I see red all the time. (Mars is red and “seeing red” means being angry—get it?)

Here are some other vocab words that describe my life:Inadequate. Insufferable. Intolerable.

(Don’t know what they mean? Look them up yourself.)

                                                   (Sorry. That was rude.)

It's a mix of humour and seriousness. It's a part of Rose's teen life. It is a story about a girl who seems to lose everything she likes...I liked the entire book except the end !

This book is funny, especially at the beginning where I was laughing out loud because of Rose's stress in front of Forta. I quote many excerpts where she confesses her doubts of saying something. It's really funny and I thought that it was going to be like that all along, but that's not the case because even if the funny part is here, there is also a serious (very serious about harassment issues) part ! So, as I said at the beginning, it's a mix of happiness and sadness.

I love Rose Zarelli. She holds onto her thoughts and knows what to do even if it doesn't please the others. She is a good girl, but everything she did before turns bad for her friends and cheerleader team. I was mad at these high school pupils, they are so stupid! I hated Tracy and Stephanie who was supposed to be her best friend! What? Have you ever seen a best friend who gives up on you to be absolutely "cool" with the cheerleader team ? It's crazy, I hated this superficial girl! Rose is the best character in this book. She does many mistakes, but I like her! She's so close to us, she tells everything she has in her heart.

We are witnessing a descent into hell! It's horrible to see that Rose has lost everything, one by one! It's not her fault, but she is sad and feels guilty. She is not very good at that and will learn who her real friends are! At the same time, she tries to mourn his father, it's difficult, but she can do it! We follow all her thoughts.

Harassment seems to be the key-word of this book. It's real and I’m quite shocked, but it's a fact. Every day, there are some pupils suffering from other classmates’ behaviour. Louise Rozett amazingly shows how they feel about being harassed! It's horrible to be alone against a whole school. Rose deals quite well with this situation even if she's going to explode at a moment.

The only thing I didn't like in this book is the end! The author adds some good points because she gives all the sense of the title, but later on, she introduces crazy stuffs that seem to be good to us but that I’ve found poor and very bad. I can't accept that, it's too easy to be like that. I was mad at the end because I really didn't like it! The pre-end is beautiful, awesome, but the final chapter breaks the whole thing.

To finish with, I want to speak shortly about Louise Rozett's writing. She has an amazing way of writing from Rose's point of view. There are also many funny dialogues. I love this writing : not complicated, but powerful. It goes from funny to sensitive.

It's finally a good book, funny, sad, as life itself ! Even if I didn’t appreciate the end, I still want to read its sequel. This book will be released in August, 28th! Don't forget to buy it if you like this type of novel.

PS: The very beginning of the story may seem to show a superficial girl, but it's not the case! Rose is everything but superficial.

Teenagers. Family. Friendship.

Harassment in high school.

“Where’s your last class?” can be code for several things : “Where do you want us to meet so we can walk and practise together ?”, or : “Where should I meet you so I can sell you those drugs ?”, or : “Where can I find you so I can beat you up ?”

Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma

Forbidden – Tabitha Suzuma

Simon & Schuster

454 pages

Seventeen-year-old Lochan and sixteen-year-old Maya have always felt more like friends than siblings. Together they have stepped in for their alcoholic, wayward mother to take care of their three younger siblings. As defacto parents to the little ones, Lochan and Maya have had to grow up fast. And the stress of their lives--and the way they understand each other so completely--has also also brought them closer than two siblings would ordinarily be. So close, in fact, that they have fallen in love. Their clandestine romance quickly blooms into deep, desperate love. They know their relationship is wrong and cannot possibly continue. And yet, they cannot stop what feels so incredibly right. As the novel careens toward an explosive and shocking finale, only one thing is certain: a love this devastating has no happy ending.

What can I say after reading this book. Nothing. Everything. This book has changed everything about my prejudice, my thought. I am not the same after reading this novel. Lochan and Maya has taken a big place in my mind, even if it past few days after finished this book. It's strange, I never feel this type of feelings to a book.

A family composed by the mother and five children. The mother is not very careful with her children, so this task is on Lochanand Maya, the two eldest children. They care of their brother and sister with attention and smile. Lochan and Maya are not really as a sister and a brother, there are like friends. They knew everything about them. Their relationship is very close. It's very cute to see there. Until here, there is nothing to happen apart the children and their problems and the mother and her selfishness. But the story is very attractive because of Tabitha manage to do liking us the characters.

I like the characters in this book. Lochan, Maya, Tiffin, Willa, Kit are lovely, they all have a defined personality. We can't mix them. I feel many of feelings about these characters...

Tabitha's writing is awesome. She can lovely translate the feelings in word. She can do crying by her writing, it's horrible and amazing. I cannot describe this writing who takes the importance with his power. For example, she can "kill" you in one sentence. Apart from this power, her writing is easy to understand without too complicated word.

The feelings in this book is the most important thing. Why? It's simple because this novel is about a taboo theme which separate the reader. For example, for me, I begin this book with a small in principle, so I judge this couple because they are brothers and sisters...but with the time, I understand that they brotherhood is not so powerful that they are in love. Finally, I accepted them like they are and I cry for this love story which had no happy ending.

No happy ending, on the contrary, the end will kill you in the every sense of this word. I am devastating by this end because I never excepted that, and surprisingly, it happened quickly and so tragically that the only solution is to cry. And, I cry, breathe difficultly...in one word, I was shocking. I couldn't stop to read. And, at the final chapter, I was so shock than I don't very understand what it going to happen. But finally, when I understand every sense of this end, I was devastated, but also happy to know that there is a reason of all this.

Finally, I am frustrated to can't tell the story, especially the end because the power of this story is mainly this story about consensual incest. I remark that this theme is not very using in literature, and it's a good thing to have a new theme which exist in reality. I love this story. Lochan and Maya are amazing. All the thing is awesome in this story. I recommend it.

To finish, I want to say that incest is not disgusting theme in this novel, especially in the way of taken of the author.

Love. Family. Courage.

Consensual incest.
